Here are the rides that we have scheduled so far for December 2017!

HVMBC Members' Christmas Special! Epic Rides + BBQ + optional overnight camping

Date : Starting *SATURDAY*, 9th December 12:00 p.m. - Sunday 10th December

Did you read that? We start on *SATURDAY* at 12pm, with (maybe) another ride Sunday morning

Ride type: HVMBC Members' Christmas Special

Exact ride details to be confirmed (i.e. made up on the day), but will be epic and will include Whareroa Farm (including Capt. SMeeres track) and beyond.

Staying at: Paekakariki Holiday Park

__NOTE__!! For those wishing to camp or stay Saturday night, you *MUST* pre-book your accommodation at:
(or call them). They have a minimum number of cabins available, plus some tent sites.
We won't be making any bookings, and the place books up quickly, so if you want to stay Saturday night then make sure you log-in or call them and book ASAP.
Bring a change of clothes and something to sleep in if you plan to stay over.

Non-members are welcome to join the club!


Location : Dry Creek Loop, John's track, Keith George + BBQ

Date : Wednesday 13th December 6:30 pm

Ride type: 3 - 4 Duration: 2 hours , depending on if we lose somebody

Meet at the Dry Creek entrance to Belmont Regional Park.From SH2 turn onto the Haywards Hill Road (SH58), then left immediately and park in the Belmont car park

A blat around Dry Creek, up & over John's track and the Keith George track/area(?). Always a favourite and good if the weather's bad too (hint for all you softies out there).
Gordie has kindly offered to host the after-match function at his place with a BYO BBQ, so be sure to bring that spare brontosaurus steak hiding at the bottom of your freezer to slap on the grill, plus your portable pub (or something more suitable)!

Meet at the Khandallah Trading Company pub (used to be Monteith's Brewery bar), Ganges Rd, Khandallah

Coldest Ride
Location : North Pole

Meet at the North Pole. Make your own way there.

A good way to prepare for all of that extra Christmas added weight, and to give snow and ice riding a go. Note, there probably won't be any committee members on this 'ride'. Merry Christmas everyone!

Location : Whareroa Farm extended evening + BBQ

Date : Wednesday, 27th December 5:00 pm - whenever (3+hrs). !NOTE! the earlier start time

Ride type: Wednesday

Meet at the new Queen Elizabeth visitor centre. Take the Queen Elizabeth Park exit from SH1 at Mackay's Crossing just North of Paekakariki, go through the gates and park in the car park near the tram museum.

Steve will take us on a merry ride taking in the delights that Whareroa Farm has to offer...

Ride type: Wednesday

Meet at Makara Peak Car Park. Head out to the south end of Karori, turn left into South Karori Road, the car park is about a kilometre away on the right.

A tour round the awesomeness that is Makara Peak. Note, there may not be any committee members on this ride.

Location : Battle Hill Explore, Pauatahanui

Battle Hill Park is located 6km north of Pauatahanui on the Paekakariki Hill Rd

We'll head up to Puketiro and along the ridge and find some jungle tracks for the way down, and generally just explore. Steve or Graeme will have a plan.

Date : Wednesday, 10th January 6:30 pm

Ride type: Wednesday

Meet at Maymorn. Drive up SH2 to Te Marua about 3 km north of Upper Hutt. Turn right at the dairy into Plateau Road and then right into Maymorn Road - after about 1.5km there is a rail overbridge - the meeting point is on the left immediately after that.

There are plenty of easier 4WD tracks and some with some singletrack with technical challenges.

Location : Shannon Bull Run, South of the Dams

Date : Sunday, 21st January 09:00am

Ride type: Sunday

Travelling North on SH1, drive into Levin, and from there the likely shuttle location will be Alcatraz (Steve is going to organise the shuttle details, so we'll need numbers)
Note: It will take a good 90mins get there from the Hutt.

This time it will be a ride (most likely) south of the dams. Go ask Steve for more details.

Location : Colonial Knob, Porirua

Meet: at the ANZ building, Hagley St in central Porirua.

We'll make our way over to Colonial Knob, then depending on the weather probably attack Death Gully, or checkout the latest trail pixie's work...

Location : Moores Valley, Wainuiomata

Date : Wednesday, 31st January 6:30 pm

Ride type: Wednesday

Meet in Moores Valley Road. Drive over the Wainuiomata hill and go straight through at the first roundabout, veer right at the second roundabout and turn left at the third into Moores Valley Road and park near the shops outside the Palliser Hotel.

Ride a bunch of tracks, including Sunny Grove track.

Location : WTP, Rata Ridge (maybe in Reverse), Wainuiomata

Ride type: Sunday

Meet: WTP carpark, Wainuiomata - Drive over the Wainuiomata Hill, turn left at the first roundabout, then left into Waiu st and drive down until you reach the WTP carpark.

The plan is to do Rata Ridge (maybe in reverse), plus probably an explore of the Wainuiomata Trail Park MTB tracks.

Park on Oriental Parade by the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club

A chance for a bit of urban riding around Mt Victoria.

Location : Cannon Point, Totara Park

Date : Wednesday 14th February 6:30 p.m.

Ride type: 3 Duration: 3 hours

Travelling North from Wellington turn left over Totara park bridge. Meet at Tulsa Park at the end of Totara Park Rd. straight through the first roundabout.

The ride climbs to the trig through either gentle 4WD tracks or steeper single track. From there is up to the ride leader to select a choice. There are some tracks around the summit and there are other options to head over towards the Karapoti gorge and the tracks beyond.
